Senator Facts

The Senator

Big Tree

Orlando Day 2 - Grandma Flynn

This morning we got ready for church and then picked up David's
grandmother and took her to Lake Hills Baptist Church. She was really
glad to go and to have us with her. She isn't able to make it there
very often any more.
After lunch we went to see The Senator. He is the oldest and largest
Cypress tree, at least in Florida, possibly the country. He is 118
feet tall and 3500 years old. It used to be 165 feet tall, but the top
was destroyed in a hurricane in 1925.

We stopped to see Grandpa Flynn who is in a care center. He didn't
respond to us, but Grandma was glad to be able to visit him. She told
me they will have been married 70 years next December!

Grandma came back to our condo with us for a swim and some of David's
homemade Spaghetti. She said it was as good as Grandpa used to make.

It was a really nice day and worth the trip by itself!

Petting a baby triceratops!

Orlando trip day 1

We arrived in Orlando late Friday night, so that we could start our
vacation early Saturday.
We spent the day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The
highlight was of course the Jurassic Park area.
Nathan didn't even hesitate about going on this ride. I think if they
made a Jurassic Park roller coaster he would even go on that. It is
fun having our kids be tall enough for the rides. This is the first
time we've gone to a park like this in about 6 years.

We caught the new Prince Caspian movie before we went to find our
condo. We are staying at the Marriott Grande Vista resort in a two
bedroom condo that is very nice.

Ogden get away!

David is out of town again, and we had a couple of days without a lot
of commitments, so we decided to get away to our Worldmark condo in
Ogden Canyon. We came up Sunday and spent the evening relaxing in the
condo.
Today we went down to Ogden for the day. We went to the dinosaur
museum and to the Treehouse Museum. The new treehouse museum location
is great, but I'm afraid my kids have outgrown it. We also went to
Ogden Junction. They have indoor surfing and indoor skydiving there.
The kids wanted to do both. I thought we should wait for David, but
we're not sure that the kids won't have grown up and moved out before
that happens. We did play glow-in-the-dark mini golf.
When we got back to the condo we play games, played Raquetball,
watched a movie and went in the hot tub. It was a great day!
